I saw a couple walking down the street today holding hands and thought to myself, "what a simple and powerful thing to do with your spouse." Too often we overlook these simple gestures that can build a lasting and steady closeness within your relationship or marriage. When we first meet our partner, we are all too happy to be 'touchy-feely', but sometimes that can fade away after time. For some of us it can be 3 months, 6 months, etc. but then it dissipates. Here's a secret - that happens to every couple. The good news is that an easy fix exists. Whereas it was once natural and now takes some work, don't become discouraged. Just make a conscious effort to actively work on keeping all parts of your relationship - including little physical pieces - as fresh and new as the beginning. Your partner will reciprocate and you will find a joy most people never reach - the time in a relationship after the 6 month newness wears off and you feel closer than ever. |
